Undefeated Champion

A manly voice with Punjabi tone which hits straight to the ear drums and within fraction of seconds your mind will project the image of Grand old superman Dara Singh. Whenever somebody will ever try to create the picture of god Hanuman, most of the times he will end at the image of Dara Singh. The Indian superman, rustom-e-hind and onscreen hanuman Dara Singh is no more. He left the legacy of humanity with us.
He was last seen on silver screen in 2007 in the movie Jab We Met, playing the role Kareena Kapoors Grandfather. He played various roles in his career as an actor. Bollywood film crazy will always remember dialogue “Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota”from the movie “Mard”. This is not just a dialogue which gets huge applause whenever enchanted but the philosophy of Dara Singh’s life. Dara Singh is a wrestler turned actor who had won 500 professional fights and ended wrestling career unbeaten. His real name was Deedar Singh Randhawa. In 1947 he was crowned as the champion of Malaysia. In 1983 he fought his final fight in New Delhi where he announced his retirement. He brought immense glory and proud to the nation because of his achievements. He was also considered as the first action hero of the B-town. He started his bollywood career in 1952 with the movie “Sangdil”. Because of his huge physique he was a natural action hero and faintly romantic. He successfully paired with dazzling diva of that era, Mumtaz and delivered 16 box office hits. He acted in 121 hindi movies and 21 punjabi movies. He also worked in 6 television series.  In 1980,s the infancy era of television, he epitomized the character of the hanuman in television Ramayana. Afterwards, in remake of Ramayana producers failed to find an artist to play role of Hanuman better then Dara Singh. Ramayana is an epic series in the history of television and role played by Dara as hanuman is immortal.
He was inspirational and enigmatic in his own way. Living healthy not only physically but socially is very important for celebrity. Dara Singh is one of the celebrities who started in pink of his health and prestige and passed away leaving a legacy of wealth of health. As the commercial played by him says “Sunday Ho Ya Monday Roj Khao Andey” (Let it be Sunday or Monday eat eggs everyday). Well, having eggs in diet is healthy but having the philosophy of Dara in mind is healthy too. In Indian mythology Hanuman and Bhima are the two characters who are synonymous with manliness and power, and in Indian filmology Dara Singh.
